I have a few important announcements regarding NovaHost.org accounts.

• MySQL has been updated to version 5.1. This version does not accept DB usernames longer than 16 characters. If you're having connection troubles, please check this.
  
• cPanel now requires SSL login. You may need to add a security certificate exception. This is to prevent password theft and compromised accounts.
  
• Inactive accounts will start to be deleted next week! If you haven't uploaded a site, or logged in to cpanel within a month, your account may be removed. This is to allow for new account registrations. Gold Accounts do not apply. See: http://novatechforum...post__p__276038

Nice work, SSL is a great addition. I for one always prefer to go with something more secure.

Quick question, in ref to the mysql thing, does that 16 characters thing include your own username? As I've got 1 database that with my username and the _ that gets added comes to 17 chars total.

Also, does the inactive accounts thing mean we have to login to these forums, the cpanel, or is ftp access only okay?

Your own cpanel username and underscore do count as part of the database username.

You will be considered inactive if you haven't logged into cPanel in a long time, or you don't have a website uploaded. We will review each account before deleting, and these requirements are not strict.

We will not delete an account if we think it is being or will be used.

No worries on my account not being used, I have loads of people accessing it every day hehe. Now I gotta just remember to connect to the cpanel every so often, lol. :-)

Probably an SSL certificate warning. As stated in point 2, you need to add an exception.

The SSL login thing is rather annoying. Going straight to domain.com/cpanel doesn't automatically log me in anymore and I have to click the login using SSL button. It is one more step but will take some time to get used to. Great to know you are keeping things secure though.

I am currently having issues logging in...

I just recently had my account password reset but it wont accept the new password.
I also checked from the main site to see if my user was in use and it was.

I set my cpanel complete several months ago, that means I seldom log in to it.
I just use the ftp, and I still use my website.
Do I have to log in to cpanel once a month?

No, not if you have an active website.
